Welcome

The Friends Of Wilson Park welcome you to Lawson's unique water feature including the to scale relief contour map of Australia created from a rock outcrop & concrete. It was officially opened in 1932 as shown in the photo above.
This very rare and unusual contour map water feature is believed to be the only one of its kind in Australia  & deserves to be protected and preserved for future generations.
Apart from that kids absolutely love it!!
Blue Mountains City Council  have recently allocated up to $80,00 for emergency work to be done to stabilize the channels & other sections of the water feature so this rare historical feature is not lost. It is now on the BMCC Heritage List so we can then hope for NSW STATE funding to complete the restoration work needed.

From The Engineering & Heritage Report
The map in Wilson Park appears to be representative of a form that was commonly constructed in the 1930s. It is possibly the only remaining example of this once relatively common form. The map is also unique in that these items were generally constructed in school playgrounds and rarely were incorporated within water features.

We have formed a group FRIENDS OF WILSON PARK to promote the water feature & to assist when needed.  You are welcome to join.
